Biography
Taesic Kim is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Missouri and a director of the Cyber-Physical Power and Energy Systems (CPPES) Laboratory. Prior to joining the University of Missouri in Fall 2024, he was an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK).
Kim’s research goal is to develop resilient and secure power and energy systems that contribute to creating a clean, secure and sustainable world. His current research interests lie in the area of cyber-physical power and energy systems with emphasis on cyber-physical security (e.g., malware security and ethical hacking), Secure and Efficient AI, Quantum AI and Optimization, Cyber-Secure Power Electronics, Cyber-Resilient Power Systems. He has received multiple grants from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Science Foundation (NSF), Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) and Institute for Information and Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP). He holds two U.S. patents and over 100 papers in refereed journals and IEEE conference proceedings in the field of CPPES. He has been involved in both Power Engineering and Security societies as a committee, working group, editor, session chair and reviewer, etc. He is a recipient of Dean’s Award in Excellence in Research as well as Professor of Year in 2021 from TAMUK, IEEE Myron Zucker Student-Faculty Grant Award in 2018 and won several best paper awards.
