Food-ordering formula could lessen food waste in buffet-style eateries

Research found that optimal production levels decreased significantly for items that have a high environmental cost to produce, such as beef, with the environmental cost being calculated in terms of carbon dioxide emissions embodied in the creation of that food product.

Jung Hyup Kim, an assistant professor with MU’s Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department, currently is partnering with the Missouri Employers Mutual to test how drivers react when collision avoidance technology (CAT) devices alert them to potential dangers.

Trio of IMSE students shine at CELDi symposium

IMSE graduate student Lauren Himmelberg and undergraduate Kyle Dorge took home the Student Poster Award, and Steve Piedimonte earned the Outstanding Undergraduate Student Achievement Award at the CELDi Fall 2015 Industrial Advisory Board Meeting and Research Symposium, held Oct. 28 and 29 in Chicago.
