Mizzou Engineering students think about how they can solve real-world problems before they step outside the classroom and into their careers.
It’s part of the Missouri Method, where students engage in learning by doing. That practice begins with hands-on opportunities in lab courses and undergraduate research and culminates with senior capstone classes. These classes allow students to apply what they have learned as undergraduates to develop solutions to the world’s problems.
Depending on the degree program, students are paired with a client, tasked with a problem or asked to develop something that would solve an issue in their lives. This semester, students created materials for better sports equipment, developed websites, redesigned infrastructure and more.
