Artificial Intelligence RIG

About AI RIG

Artificial Intelligence is transforming research and creative work across disciplines. At the University of Missouri, our faculty, staff and students are advancing AI in diverse fields—but many face barriers to collaboration, tools, training, and funding. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Interest Group (RIG) at MU addresses these challenges by building an interdisciplinary community to support AI-related research and creativity campus-wide. Through dedicated leadership, seed funding, grant support and training, the Hub empowers researchers to drive innovation and compete for major external grants.

Goals

The goals of the AI RIG will include:

  • Increase faculty competitiveness for large external grants;
  • Facilitate seed funding opportunities for researchers to jump-start interdisciplinary AI research programs and obtain pilot data for external grant applications;
  • Increase access to computational and data resources for researchers;
  • Improve faculty retention relating to AI across campus;
  • Enhance faculty recruitment and retention relating to AI across campus.

Connections

The AI RIG can enhance existing research centers on campus and provide a forum for collaboration.  Some potential partners include:

  • Quantum Innovation Center
  • Space Time Data Center (Statistics)
  • RSS-IT
  • Health Informatics
  • MUIDSI
  • Center for Cyber Education, Research & Infrastructure (Mizzou CERI)
  • Center for Geospatial Intelligence (CGI)
