The EIT Experience
The Information Technology degree is designed to meet the needs of tech-minded thinkers interested in working with emerging technologies as solutions to tomorrow’s challenges. Your courses will focus on a core of traditional IT practices that will provide you with the foundation of programming, software engineering, cybersecurity, web development, networks and databases. Our students then explore innovative integrations of media and interactive design technologies, autonomous systems, and mobile application development.
Your undergraduate degree will delve into the role that technology plays in today’s developing business and infrastructure as well as interactive systems, devices and digital media.
Our graduates seek careers in a multitude of industries as Information Technology is present in nearly every facet of today’s economy. You’ll get real-world experience and opportunities to work with faculty engaged directly in industry and research.
Leadership and Career Opportunities
Discover new interests, develop professional skills and become leaders by participating in internships, competition teams, student organizations and study abroad programs.
Internships
Gain real-world experience and through internships, and many of those experiences lead to full-time positions. Students can also receive course credits for their internships. Mizzou Engineering’s Career Services provides resume workshops, interview prep and other resources to help students obtain co-ops or internships with renowned companies.
Competitions and Events
Compete in hackathons, pitch ideas and participate in real-world projects. Students assist faculty to help produce film and television projects and develop applications for real clients. Working in teams, they develop new cross-reality experiences at the annual MIT Reality Hack.
Student Organizations
Hone your leadership and communication skills, explore your interests and connect with peers through student organizations at the department, College or campus level.
Study Abroad
Students study abroad and domestically to experience technology through global perspectives. Through these experiences, students receive direct-to-industry exposure and network with professionals from across the country and around the globe. Computer Recommendations
The computer you purchase should be either a MacBook Pro with the latest Mac Operating System and Apple Silicone processor, or a PC with the latest i7 Processor, or better, and a dedicated GPU (NVIDIA is preferred).
Regardless of operating system, the computer should have a minimum of 16 GB RAM and 500 GB Internal Flash Storage.
We also recommend the purchase of an external hard drive with 1TB (or larger) space.
While specific graphics cards are not required, a PC should still have its own dedicated graphics card; a current generation Apple Silicon processor in a Macbook Pro is recommended for Mac.
There are some elective courses that our program offers that will require you to use Mac OS or Windows due to software compatibility; please reach out to your advisors for a list of courses and available solutions.
