Yue Jin, Matt Maschmann and Matthias Young are recognized for their innovation, leadership and commitment to Mizzou Engineering and the engineering community.

Mizzou Engineering has a rich history of exemplary academic programs and unparalleled research. Our faculty meet the highest standards in the classroom and the lab, consistently providing our students with a reliable foundation for growth and excellence.
In recognition of their excellence in research, teaching and service across multiple disciplines, three Mizzou Engineering faculty members have received the following distinctions.
Yue Jin will be named the James W. and Joan M. O’Neill Faculty Scholar in Engineering as of Sept. 1. An assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Yue’s research spans thermal-fluid sciences and nuclear engineering, including heat transfer, reactor thermal hydraulics and energy systems design.
Matt Maschmann will receive the James C. Owens Fund Award for Excellence in Engineering. A professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Maschmann co-directs the MU Materials Science and Engineering Institute and has authored 50 publications on nanoscale materials. His work has earned funding from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy, among others.
Matthias Young will become the Jerry L. Jost Endowed Chair in Chemical Engineering. An associate professor with joint appointments in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Chemistry, Young leads the Thin Film Coatings and Materials Electrochemistry Lab. He has published more than 25 journal articles and has five patents.
