Computer science, IT students participate in MIT Reality Hack

Mizzou Engineering’s Shane McKelvey and his team earned a first-place award at MIT’s Reality Hack in January for their development of a novel treatment that uses virtual reality (VR) to help young patients undergo electro-stimulation therapy.

MUVR: shaping tomorrow’s innovators

MU students are harnessing the virtual to train for reality. Austin Barr is working with his fellow IT and computer science majors to raise awareness of the University of Missouri’s Virtual Reality Organization (MUVR) across campus and open the club and the Collaborative Research Environments for Extended Reality (CREXR) Lab to students from all disciplines.

Information technology students delve into web design with capstone project

The information technology capstone group set out to develop a degree audit program. Right now, IT degree audits can be a little daunting as students have numerous options to take electives around web and mobile app development, media technology, programming and cybersecurity. However, before they can proceed to advanced-level courses, students have to know which prerequisite courses are required.

Honors College Spotlight: Felix Wang

Felix Wang has made sure to make the most of his time at the University of Missouri. The senior graduated in December with two degrees – English and information technology – as well as the Honors Certificate. Wang also took part in a study abroad experience in Ireland and has participated in multiple undergraduate research projects.

Beginning a new chapter: Blake Miller earns degree in information technology

Blake Miller, originally from Pana, Illinois, chose to come to Mizzou because of its rich history and diverse opportunities that aligned perfectly with his academic and personal goals. He saw the growth of digital technology and its increasing significance to everyday life and realized that expertise in information technology is not just a career choice, but is a necessary skill set in the modern world.
