Mizzou Engineering Alumnus Part of Naval Team Studying Impact of UV Light on COVID-19
For his thesis project at Mizzou Engineering, Brett Huhman ’03, ’06, developed a method to use ultraviolet (UV) light to combat anthrax. While it was timely in the early 2000s, Huhman admits he never thought he’d return to that research. Then came COVID-19. Now, Huhman is part of a U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) team analyzing how well ultraviolet light sources can combat the coronavirus.

Alumnus Named Young Engineer of the Year
Mizzou Engineering alumnus Stephen Stinger recently was named the “Young Engineer of the Year” by the Western Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MPSE). The award ceremony was held during the 69th Annual Engineers’ Week Celebration in Kansas City on Feb. 21. Stinger earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri in 2009 and his master’s in civil engineering from Mizzou in 2011.
