Honors College Senior Spotlight: Dane Walker
Through Project Lead the Way – a nonprofit organization that develops STEM curriculum for elementary, middle and high schools across the country – Dane Walker was introduced to a variety of scientific fields. The subject that clicked the most for Walker was engineering. When he made the decision to continue his education at the University of Missouri, he knew the College of Engineering was going to be the perfect fit.

Building a career with hands-on experience: Lofgren earns civil engineering degree
Ryan Lofgren, an Iowa native, first toured Mizzou as a rising junior in high school and fell in love with the character of campus. After going on various other visits in the year that followed, he says nothing quite compared to his experience at MU. So, he followed his gut and could not be happier with that decision.

Dale Klein and William “Bill” Baker were on campus to receive the 2024 Jefferson Club Golden Quill Alumni Excellence Award, one of Mizzou's highest honors. Recipients of the award demonstrate outstanding achievement in their chosen field and reflect the university’s core values of respect, responsibility, discovery and excellence.

Mizzou Engineering students take honors at Show Me Research Week 2024
Nine engineering students took honors at Show Me Research Week, a collaboration between MU's Office of Undergraduate Research and the Bond Life Sciences Center, which included poster presentations, guest lectures and special activities. More than 55 engineering students presented.

Water and Environmental Research Lab team takes honors at statewide meeting
For the second year in a row, a Mizzou Engineering research group snagged an overall first place and a third-place award in the student poster competition at the joint annual meeting of the Missouri Water Works Association (MO-AWWA) and the Missouri Water Environmental Association (MWEA).

Ensuring a safer world: Baolin Deng
When Baolin Deng, University of Missouri William Andrew Davidson Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and co-director of the Missouri Water Center, went off to college at China University of Geosciences, he dreamed of discovering hidden mines and treasures. Little did he know that removing arsenic and other pollutants from water would actually be his calling.

Mizzou Engineer leads synthesis to study safety roadway countermeasures
A Mizzou Engineer is leading a project to help determine what measures state departments of transportation (DOTs) are using to help keep motorists safe. Henry Brown, a research engineer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, is Principal Investigator on the synthesis, which is under the umbrella of the National Cooperative Highway Research Project (NCHRP). Findings are expected to be published by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine next year.

Construction Management Leadership Institute helps professionals hone skills
Just a few years after graduating from Mizzou Engineering, Joe Modica is already climbing the leadership ladder, now serving as an assistant project manager at Nabholz Corporation. So when he saw an opportunity to expand upon his engineering and leadership skills at Mizzou, he seized the opportunity. Now, Modica is one of 36 professionals who successfully completed the inaugural Construction Management Leadership Institute, a three-day intensive training for civil engineers and construction professionals.
