Ph.D. student awarded U.S. Department of Energy research fellowship
A Mizzou Engineer has been selected to participate in a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) research fellowship program designed to support graduate students working on energy-related research.
Mizzou Engineering camps allow students to explore STEM opportunities
Mizzou Engineering hosted six summer camps designed to showcase opportunities in STEM.
Mizzou Engineer improving algorithms that power self-driving vehicles
Artificial intelligence (AI) makes all sorts of decisions for us. Netflix recommends our next movie. Amazon suggests products based on what’s in our shopping cart. Facebook determines the content that shows up in our feeds. While we have a basic idea of how these algorithms work, most of us don’t need machines to further explain why they are making those conclusions.
Photo Album: Mizzou Engineers at the Summer Research Forum
Each year, students from Mizzou and other colleges and universities spend the summer working on undergraduate research at Mizzou Engineering. Exploring research questions ranging from materials science to neuroscience, they examine how the world functions and how engineers can make it better.
REU: Undergraduates explore materials science across engineering disciplines
Students participating in a materials science-focused summer program have spent nine weeks at Mizzou Engineering getting hands on research experience.
Mizzou Engineers create novel approach to control energy waves in fourth dimension
In recent years scientists like Guoliang Huang, the Huber and Helen Croft Chair in Engineering, have explored a “fourth dimension” (4D), or synthetic dimension, as an extension of our current physical reality.
Mechanical Engineering seniors conclude semester with capstones
In the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, seniors work together in a semester-long capstone project to design, manufacture and test products. The experience gives students the hands-on preparation to be successful after graduation.
Professor Emeritus receives prestigious ASME Heat Transfer Memorial Award
D.Y. “Robert” Tzou, a professor emeritus of mechanical and aerospace engineering, has been selected to receive the 2023 Heat Transfer Memorial Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
A new era of formula car racing at Mizzou
Tigers in fast cars competed this spring in the Formula SAE (FSAE) competition at Michigan International Speedway, bringing home awards and beginning a new era of racing at Mizzou. Mizzou Racing’s car, #18, placed 17 out of 120 teams. The June FSAE competition was the first competition for Mizzou Electric Racing.
