2021 Fall Career Fair

Mizzou Engineering brought employers and students together at its fall Career Fair, held Sept. 8 at the Student Recreation Complex (MizzouRec) on the MU campus.

More than 150 organizations looking to fill jobs, internships and co-ops met with hundreds of Engineering students during the half-day event. Employers included governmental agencies, international corporations, Internet-based companies and the U.S. Armed Forces, according to Emily Bozich, career services coordinator for Mizzou Engineering.

“This event supports the career success of our students and help further develop them as professionals,” she said. “It serves as a unique opportunity to network and engage with numerous companies across the country.”

Chemical engineering junior Katrina Brathwaite, from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, attended the fair for her first time.

“I wanted to attend to be exposed to different employers and to find a summer internship,” Brathwaite said. “I don’t have a particular company in mind but would like the internship to have an environmental focus.”

Biological engineering senior Sarah Thompson, from Collierville, Tennessee, has attended multiple Engineering career fairs to build familiarity with the companies and recruiters as she looks for a position related to sustainability work.

“The career fair provides a good networking opportunity,” Thompson said. “I’ve been coming for a few years, so there will be people who recognize me and ask me how I’m doing. It’s always good to catch up and build those relationships.”

Platinum sponsors of the fair were Altec, ARCO, Argus Consulting, Brinkmann Constructors, Coca-Cola, Computech, Emery Sapp & Sons, Fike Corporation, Hitachi ABB, Holloway America, Honeywell FM&T, Melton Machine, Parker Hannifin, Patrick, Spear Power Systems, Tradebot and Veterans United.

Beyond the Career Fair

In addition to the bi-annual career fairs held each fall and spring, the Career Services office provides individualized support to students.

“Our office helps students with their resumes, CVs, interview preparation and job search needs,” Bozich said. “We are also enhancing our professional workshop offerings and plan to hold more events this semester.”

An additional Mizzou Engineering virtual career fair will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14. Those wishing to participate are encouraged to pre-register on Handshake to virtually meet with companies in various engineering fields.
