Honors College Senior Spotlight: Dane Walker

Through Project Lead the Way – a nonprofit organization that develops STEM curriculum for elementary, middle and high schools across the country – Dane Walker was introduced to a variety of scientific fields. The subject that clicked the most for Walker was engineering. When he made the decision to continue his education at the University of Missouri, he knew the College of Engineering was going to be the perfect fit.

Before coming to the University of Missouri, Amanuel Hailemariam had no experience with coding or software development. Now, he’s graduating with a bachelor’s in information technology (IT) and a resume packed with real-world programming experience.

Mizzou Engineering alumni honored with 2024 Jefferson Club Golden Quill Alumni Excellence Awards return to campus 

Dale Klein and William “Bill” Baker were on campus to receive the 2024 Jefferson Club Golden Quill Alumni Excellence Award, one of Mizzou's highest honors. Recipients of the award demonstrate outstanding achievement in their chosen field and reflect the university’s core values of respect, responsibility, discovery and excellence.

Sweet receives prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

Campbell Sweet, a PhD student in chemical engineering, has received a 2024 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF GRF). Sweet is currently in the first year of her PhD program at Mizzou, conducting research under the mentorship of Professor Patrick Pinhero. The award covers three years of a graduate program.

Nine engineering students took honors at Show Me Research Week, a collaboration between MU's Office of Undergraduate Research and the Bond Life Sciences Center, which included poster presentations, guest lectures and special activities. More than 55 engineering students presented.

Gain technical skills and community by getting involved in undergraduate research

It’s Show Me Research Week, and engineering students are showing up to present work on the world’s most pressing problems. Kate Barnard has been involved in research since her sophomore year. A mechanical engineering student, she’s been working with civil engineering Assistant Professor Maryam Salehi on multiple research projects in order to reduce the number of microplastics in our water.

Engineers in Marching Mizzou parade through Ireland

From M-I-Z to I-R-E, Mizzou Engineers were among members of Marching Mizzou who traveled to Ireland last month to perform in the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade in Dublin, where they were awarded best overall band.
