MU engineer lends water quality expertise to federal, state agencies

Baolin Deng, C.W. LaPierre Professor of civil and environmental engineering, will serve on the Environmental Protection Agency Science Advisory Board’s Drinking Water Committee until 2018. He’ll also serve on a task force to update the Missouri Water Plan, an effort being undertaken by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

New alumni initiative launched by CHE Department

Department leaders in chemical engineering are working with alumni to launch a Chemical Engineering Academy of Distinguished Alumni. With support from the department’s Industry Advisory Board, the academy will further establish ways for alumni to be a part of the department.

Small materials have big potential

When it comes to maintaining quality water resources, it turns out that even the smallest solution can have a major impact. Researchers from both the Chemical and Civil and Environmental Engineering departments have discovered that some very tiny materials can effectively treat water.
